Rise Up

A few years back, then Assistant Principal, Bobby Brown saw the needs that our young men had at Walter J. Baird.

 

He, with the help of a group of Cumberland University football players and Walter J.’s SRO, Patrick Seay, created a group that began in the 2018-19 school year called Rise Up.

 

The boys meet every Friday to talk about making good choices, self-esteem and serving others.

 

The football players share their stories and experiences with the boys each week and help them to feel comfortable sharing their life stories.

 

There are several activities in the works for this group of young men including attending a Cumberland baseball game.

 

The young men are selected based on several criteria set in place by WJB.
